The first step to making something like the Leviathan Axe would be to add reinforcement. Two of the points that I thought would be very important should be both strong and lightweight. I put a PVC rod down the center of the handle, followed by filling the remaining cavity with a can of expansion foam.
The next step was applying Bondo all across the piece. This removed the layer lines and also helped hide the seams of the individual handle pieces into one cohesive axe handle.
The final step was airbrushing. I applied several layers of aircraft aluminum colored paint. Then I built up the “frost” effect by layering from the lightest, almost white shade of blue, gradually to a more saturated blue.
