Halo ODst Armor (WORK IN PROGRESS)

While making this armor, the goal was to create a realistic, lived-in look. This intention was to have it look like the wearer has been through the elements like mud and rain to reach their destination.

All the primary armor pieces were covered in Bondo body filler for a smoother sanding process.

After I worked on getting the piece as smooth as possible, then I went back and roughed over the surface to create a lived-in and battle tested look. I used a rotary tool grinding head to create some deflected “bullet holes” effects.

I then applied filler-primer to knock out the rest of any visible 3D print layer lines.

I put down a base color called “Oil Rubbed Bronze” that does not really fit its title but is the appropriate base color. I then roughly sprayed an automotive grey silver over the pieces.

I printed the backplate out of a flexible TPU filament in panels.
